April 20, 2010

Dear Hamilton and District Pharmacists’ Association Members,

There was a vote at the CE event on April 19, 2010 and there was unanimous support to pursue the advertisements in the Hamilton Spectator.  Please see today’s (April 20, 2010) Hamilton Spectator, Go section, page 8, for the Hamilton Pharmacists advertisement and reference to stopcuts.ca.

We are standing united as pharmacists and informing our patients that there is a threat to the way that we will be able to practice pharmacy and serve our patients with these budget cuts.  We need them to know our jobs and the services we provide will be in jeopardy with these budget cuts.

There will be a second advertisement running next Tuesday, April 27th, which will contain a list of all pharmacist members of HDPhA.  We will only be listing the names of current HDPhA members, therefore please make sure your membership is up-to-date, or submit your membership to Pina De Santis.  Please also email Pina at pina-desantis@excite.com if you would not like your name listed in the advertisement.

We also need assistance from individual pharmacists, and we encourage you to donate an hour’s wage to defend your profession.  We also encourage pharmacists to approach their employer, an example is to ask your employer to take one hour of your wage and donate it to the initiative, and match your donation.  Please if you could contribute as either a pharmacist or pharmacy; contact our treasurer Joe Giudice at spidervoo@hotmail.com or mail a cheque to HDPhA at

275 James St. N.

P.O. Box 37036

Hamilton, ON

L8R 3P1

Please put a note on the cheque that it is for stopcuts.ca

Thank you for your support, and please contact me with any questions or concerns.

Regards,

Leslie Chappell

President, Hamilton and District Pharmacists’ Association
